Documenting Multi-Generational Family Histories
By Stan Kinsey, Founder
My maternal grandmother's maiden name was Bryant. We have stories, photos, letters, journals and news clippings of the Bryant family, starting with Stephen Bryan immigrating from England in 1645.
And since this history did not belong to just one person on the tree, we had long wondered where to document these stories such that others could find them.
The MyFamilyArchive solution became the Family History Flag... and here's how it works...
The Family History Flag

You will first choose a person on the tree for a Family History Flag to reside.
In the case of our Bryant Family History, we've selected Mildred Bryant, the most recent Bryant on our tree; but it could be placed with her father or another Bryant, if desired. Viewers clicking on the flag are taken to the Bryant Family History page, shown below.

The Family History page works like all other collection pages but is dedicated not to a person or single family, but to an extended family or surname over the course of multiple generations.
It can contain a Narrative (left column), Chapters and Linked Albums (right column) with photos, videos, journals and any other content that can be digitized.

Clicking on the Narrative brings up a more structured document with Header and Photo.
Now your family and future generations will have no trouble finding your rich family history!
